The Gamma Omega Chapter 'La Tierra De Las Almas Perdidas' (previously known as SUNY Albany Colony) was founded by eight outstanding gentleman. Two of these gentleman Gilbert Maldonado and Saleh Abuawad conceived the idea to bring a new fraternity to the University at Albany. A number of other Latin based organizations were already founded at the University at Albany, however they did not seem to be the right choices. It was in Gilbert Maldonado's efforts that he did tremendous amounts of research and stumbled upon Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. He immediately contacted the organization and stayed in close communication with them; meeting new brothers, going to social events fundraisers, and community service work. It was then that Robinson Ko of Chi Chapter, Cornell University pledged Spring 2006 relocated his work to Albany NY. Robinson Ko would later become the Pledge Master and Alumni advisor to the chapter. With this Gilbert Maldonado expanded the group on interested gentleman allowing a total of 8 individuals who would pledge and see the process through to the end. Their names are: Gilbert Maldonado, Saleh Abuawad, Roy Frias, Ahmad Abuawad, Raymond Estrella, James Garcia, Enrique Francis and Vincent Aponte. Together these men changed the campus at the University at Albany and achieved a number of awards in the process. They have also changed the lives of so many other individuals inducting new members to the fraternity not only at the University at Albany but also in the New York State region.
